Committee Reports:
Treasurer: Trish Slape reported an estimated balance of $6979. This included
payment of $5000 for technology funding, fundraiser DJ party, Rachel’s Challenge and
teacher gifts. Agreed to continue selling the Lowes Food cards and Bojangles cards.
Box Top money and magazine sells from the fundraiser were better than last years
amount. Team funding is pending.
Fundraiser: Fundraiser and the DJ party were a success. PTO paid for the DJ,
jump for George, and snacks. Need to schedule the “Wildlife” show for the mid to end
of March. Those students selling 20 items or Booster of $100 can attend. Will have
Karen Carter contact Dr. Kreuser to arrange.
Hospitality: Valentines Day event to be scheduled.
Student Appreciation: Carolyn Schultz agreed to continue the same “treat” as
last year for Valentines Day. Fun Dips will be handed out to all students.
Box Tops: Final turn in for this school year is Feb. Melissa Gosnell has placed
announcement on “The Towne Crier.”
Grounds: No work needed til spring.
Principal’s Corner: Rachel’s Challenge has impacted the school on a daily basis.
Continue with meetings after school and during lunches. Kids are working well together.
Looking for parent volunteers to act as facilitators. School counselors are also attending
the meetings.
School budget cuts are looming. May have to increase class size and reduce the number
of teachers. Possible 5% reduction. Current staff has least seniority in the county—
young/energetic. Next School Board Meeting Feb 1st at 5:30.
